50 Books in 2012 - December Recap

See the recaps of my 50 books in 2012 challenge here:

January | February | March | April | May | June | July | August | September | October | November

In December, I read 3 more books, bringing my 2012 total to:

65 BOOKS!

In December, I read:

Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey

I read the Total Money Makeover first in early 2011. Since then, Matt and I have become huge followers of Dave's philosophies of money and have used those philosophies in our own life.

I wanted to revisit the TMM for 2 reasons.

1 - We bought a house this year, so what better time to remind myself about the steps of the TMM and make sure we are on track with ours.

2 - We are going to do Financial Peace University as a home study this month and next, so I wanted a refresher course before we started.

If you feel like your money controls you instead of the other way around, or if you want to set yourself and your family up for financial success, and want to rid yourself of debt for good, I can't say enough good things about Dave Ramsey and the Total Money Makeover. Check the book out at the library. Look around Dave's website. Listen to the archives of his radio show online.

I promise you will be inspired.

Wicked Business by Janet Evanovich

This is book two in the Lizzie and Diesel series by Janet. Once again, I loved it and fell more in love with these two characters. It's a very different series than the Stephanie Plum books, more mystical and magical, but still has many similarities too.

December Dread by Jess Lourey

I waited for a long time for this book - the 8th book in the Murder by Month series by Jess Lourey [a Minnesota author!].

This book was different from her other books - more dark. The mood was different and it was incredibly suspenseful for me!

Sometimes I will read ahead to the back of the book to see what happens, if someone dies, or who is the killer. I know, it's a horrible habit but sometimes I just can't stand not knowing.

This book, I WANTED to do that the whole book because I could not figure out who the killer was.

But I DIDN'T peak and I am glad I didn't! Jess kept me at the edge of my seat and had me flipping pages furiously until the secret was finally revealed.

My favorite parts of Jess's series are Mrs. Berns and Mira's obsession with Nut Goodies, and I wasn't disappointed by this book.

I can't wait for January's book!

My goal for the year was to read 50 books.

I wasn't sure I'd be able to reach it, but then I started to read the Stephanie Plum series and that was the end of that...

65 books in 2012 later, it feels good.

--

My goal for 2013 is a little lower. I have other big projects planned for the year, and it's harder for me to read as many books when they aren't part of a series.

My reading goals for 2013 are:

5 business books
30 personal/fun books

I'm still making my list of books I'd like to read this year so tell me:

What are some of your favorite books, either of all time, or that you'd read recently, that I should have on my 2013 list?
