The Solution To My Cooking Dilemma

I have this problem. I've had it since college, and I probably even had it before that, but my parents kept me from realizing it.

See, it goes like this. I eat lunch, and then I'm full for awhile. I don't want to think about eating next because I'm still so full from what I ate last. Then, the afternoon passes and BAM, I'm starving. I want to eat NOW. No time for 30-60 minutes of meal preparations, if I don't eat now, I'm going to turn into a monster. So, what happens? I make something that takes 10 minutes TOPS. In college, 99% of the time it was cheese tacos [melted shredded cheese on a flour tortilla made in 30 seconds in the microwave] or one of those Pasta Sides that takes 11 minutes if I was feeling fancy.

Fast forward a few years and now I'm married, and surprise! My darling husband has the same problem as I do. We don't have the forethought to plan out our meals. We don't prepare them ahead of time or even set out meat in the morning with the idea of what we'll have at night. Instead, 6 pm rolls around, one of us starts to get hungry and we ask, "So... what's for dinner?" The other will grumble and then the quest for something to make in 10 minutes flat [or less] begins. The winners are typically soup, frozen pizza, minute rice, or mac & cheese. I know, we're in our mid twenties but you'd think we were still stuck in the dorms.

So, I want to try something different. I think I might have found the solution to our problem. We've had it for awhile - actually we have two of them, in different sizes. We've used it once or twice maybe, but not nearly enough.

What's the solution? A crock pot! Or slow cooker, if that's what you call it.

I think that might be the solution to our problem. Put some stuff into the pot in the morning, turn it on low and leave it be. Then, no matter what time it is that we get hungry, there's something ready. The minute we are hungry, we can eat!

I'd like your help. I have a slow cooker cookbook that I'm going to look over sometime soon, but I want to know if any of you have tried and true and well loved crock pot recipes. If you do, I'd LOVE to hear them. You can leave them in a comment, you can email them to me at lauraradniecki@hotmail.com, or you can go over to my Facebook page and write about it there.

I can't wait to hear about your recipes!
