But because Juliana's beloved 90-something year old "Gram" lives in Crosslake, they decided to get married in a very small and intimate wedding at a rented cabin in Crosslake. That way, Gram would be able to be there for the wedding.
How special is that??
This was the most laid-back wedding I have ever photographed. Juliana greeted me at the door with a relaxed smile, and told me to make myself at home. The day was never rushed or scattered. Everyone was smiling, happy to be on vacation and to be celebrating with Juliana and Mark on their wedding day.
It was an extremely hot and muggy day, so the decision was made to have the ceremony in the main living room of the cabin. Good call because it only took 15 seconds of being outside before you'd start sweating. In the blissful air conditioning, about 30 guests gathered and looked on while Juliana and Mark said their vows and exchanged their rings. Then, Rafferty's delivered pizza and it was dinner time! After some pizza, Juliana, Mark and I went across the lake to the beach at her Gram's cabin to take some more photos. Once we were there, they decided that heck, while they're at it, they were just going to jump in the water.
So they did!
I have never had a couple jump into the lake on their wedding day, and I have to say, I loved it! How adventurous are they!? They don't take life too seriously and are totally perfect for each other. Plus, what a memorable wedding day!
They plan to have a big reception back in Texas where they'll display photos to show what their Minnesota wedding was like. I think the people back in Texas are going to love it! :)
Juliana and Mark - THANK YOU for allowing me to be a part of your wedding day. It was an honor to work with you and I am so thankful you were so fun and open to something as crazy as jumping into the lake in your wedding dress. I will never forget your wedding day! Enjoy! xoxo, Laura
I love her dress!!! How fun that they jumped off the dock. Nice job capturing the moment!
