The Rauen Family - Brainerd, MN Baby, Child and Family Photography

I've known the Rauen family for a long time. I used to be on the same swim team as the two Rauen sisters when we were all in elementary school, and my sister's best friend is engaged to Shane. I was excited when Krista contacted me about setting up a summer session for the whole family, especially since Krista and her husband were having their first baby this spring.

Of course, the day of the session was the hottest day we've had all summer; in the high 90's with a nearly 100% humidity rating. Plus, Matt had to take my car to school because his was in the shop, so I had to bike to the session. I should have taken a swim afterwards, before I headed back home! The Rauen family were total troopers though - we lasted exactly 32 minutes before we were all too hot to continue. I love these images. To me, they epitomize laid back summer life, enjoying the ones you love. With typical Minnesota humidity thrown in for good measure.
