It's Up To Me

Have you ever heard God talk to you?

Have you prayed, and then heard His answers?

Sometimes, I feel like I'm waiting for this big booming voice to say 'Laura! Here you go!' And I'll magically get the answer to my prayers.

I know that the vast majority of the time, God doesn't answer our prayers like that. Instead of a booming voice, it's more like little God things that happen - little seemingly coincidental things that aren't coincidences at all.

This past week, the God things came in the form of one constant message, transcribed in a variety of ways. The message is simple: Our personal success is entirely up to each of us. I am in control of my own happiness, success, and future.

I read this post by two fantastic photographers, Zach and Jody Gray. I read this post by a creative photographer in Europe. The message resonated with me and I said 'Ok, God! Thank you for hearing my prayers! I get it!'

I often forget how much truth there is in this. As Matt and I look toward our future and examine our dreams, it's that truth that gives me hope. Instead of thinking 'If we do this...' or 'I wish we could do that...' - we need to think 'WHEN we do this...' or 'We WILL do that.' Because really, it's entirely up to us whether we accomplish them or not.

How amazingly powerful is that truth?
