Wednesday Wonders

I've been inspired lately by two blogs that I visit often: Ashley Folkema Photography and her Wednesday Randoms and Bungalow'56 and her Gratitude Sundays.

Both of these blogs have a weekly post where the writers reflect on the past week and what they are thankful for.

I need to do something like this.

Mine will be called Wednesday Wonders.

Some days it might include things I'm thankful for, others it might list funny things that happened to or around me recently. Other times, it may include goals for the upcoming week, or maybe goals I reached during the past week.

So - here's the first edition of Wednesday Wonders:

*I'm thankful for my Wednesday night church group. I'm thankful for the other teachers, and for the kids. I learn something new each week.

*Tonight in particular, I'm thankful for the 7th grade teachers. The husband and wife team are a fantastic duo and the 7th grade students really love working with them. The husband's mother passed away last week and tonight, the duo told us the amazing testimonial of his mother's life and journey to her death. She entered into death completely at peace - the way that death should occur. She knew where she was going. That is my goal - to get to the end and know that I've lived life to its fullest and that now the best part is waiting for me. Death is really harder for those left behind, don't you think?

*Two of my 6th grade girls were talking tonight, about lip gloss. The one told me that they even make bacon flavored lip gloss now. [I'm not sure where, as I've yet to come across this phenomenon.] One of the boys heard this and jumped into the conversation "I want some!" I said, "You wouldn't wear it; it's lip gloss." "Sooo???" he said, "It's BACON!!" I love 6th grade.

*I am one of those people who listen to songs or albums on repeat for days/weeks/months until I get tired of them, or find a new obsession to replace the old one. This drives people like my husband nuts, but I can't help it - I get kind of obsessive compulsive about it. After my "I miss Hawaii" day last week, I put the Zac Brown Band CD into my car. I've listened to tracks 1, 2, 6 and 9 about 397 times in the last week. Still going strong...

*My sister, mom and I are planning a garage sale. I've never had one before. It's in 1.5 weeks. We've done nearly nothing to prepare. Tomorrow though, I'm going to my parents house to start to clean out my closet. I know, right? I'll need the luck.

*After receiving the email about the Golf Balls and Mayo Jars this morning, my goal for the next week is to try to prioritize. To spend the bulk of my efforts, energy and attention tending to the golf balls [family, faith, experiences, memories] and let the rest fall into place around that. I'll report back next week.

My time limit for writing this blog post is up. Just in time; my eyelids are starting to droop.

Thanks for tuning in, and I'm excited to see where this adventure of Wednesday Wonders leads. At the very least, it'll be a way to reflect on the week, on the blessings that have swirled around me in the week past, and on my goals for the week ahead.
