September is here!

Well, the month we have been waiting for is upon us. Big changes will happen this month. We are well underway in our transition...

We have started packing; one bedroom is allocated for the "Take To CA" things and the other is the "Let TMO Pack" room, with things that will be shipped to MN and put in storage until further notice.

We shipped the Escape to California on Friday. After much stress, paperwork corrections, driving, and whining... it is well on its way to CA, and it will be ready for us to pick it up in LA sometime before Sept 29th. Now we are left without a vehicle, which is a real change for us. It's hard to believe how dependent we are on a vehicle! We were left to walk to church on Sun, which was not a long walk or anything crazy, but of course, it started to rain before we left. Luckily, we made it without getting soaked. God must have been watching out for us :). Having no car limits what we are able to do these last few weeks as far as leaving base and going places, so that is kind of sad and frustrating... not being able to go where we want or see our favorite places again. But it's ok - my sister and her fiancee were just here last week so we did lots of tourist things and it was kind of our 'last hoorah' too. Now we're kind of just waiting for the time to come to head out.

Big dates ahead are : Sept 23rd, at 12:01 pm, Matt is officially on terminal leave. That means he's not working as a Marine anymore. He is basically on terminal vacation until his actual End of Service date which is Nov 13th. He's saved up vacation days throughout this four years in the Marines and is taking them all at once to get out earlier. Sept 25th is the day we fly to CA, we arrive in the early morning on the 26th. SO EXCITED TO SEE THE DAVIS CLAN!

For now, we're just taking things a day at a time during this transition period, and trying to smile and laugh at even the stressful and hard times. It will pass no matter what and sooner or later, we'll be back on the mainland with family, regardless of how slow time seems to be passing right now.

God bless you all, and thanks for keeping us in your prayers during our transition time!

Laura and Matt
