FAQ's about Laura Radniecki Images

Who are you and how did you get started in photography?
My name is Laura Radniecki [RAD-nick-ee]; my maiden name is Laura Hensel. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Matt. We are from rural Minnesota, and proud of it! I have a bachelors degree in Nursing but I haven't used it yet, and ironically have found myself in something at the complete opposite end of the spectrum. I have always been a photography enthusiast and have thousands of pictures, photo albums and scrapbooks to prove it. It wasn't until I moved to Hawaii to live with my husband [he was stationed on Oahu with the Marine Corps] that my hobby evolved into more of an obsession and then a business. The absolute raw beauty of the island drew me to try to capture it with my camera and in turn struck up an obsession that can't be quenched. So I am running with it, and praying along the way!

What makes you and Laura Radniecki Images different from the other photographers?
When my husband and I got married, our photographer didn't have any packages. He gave us CDs with all of the photos on them and gave us the rights to reproduce them. Since Matt comes from divorced parents, it was so much easier to give them copies of the CDs to make their own reprints instead of taking orders for individual prints and then passing that through the photographer, just to get everyone's orders satisfied. Not to mention cheaper! I loved having the photos in digital form; I made photo books and scrapbooks, as well as printed photos out for my photo album as I wished, in whatever sizes I wanted. It was the ideal photo solution for us. I wanted to extend that same service to other situations besides weddings. For those of us who don't want to have to decide which pre-assembled package fits our needs best, this flexible photography option is what works!

What if I want photos printed at a higher quality than Wal-Mart or Target? Or what if I just want you to order the photos for me?
Lucky for you, if you DO want me to handle the ordering of the photos you like, or if you want a higher quality photo than what is offered at your local photo kiosk, I will be happy to handle the photo printing for you. Prints are archival quality which means they will last for years to come. Prices are as follows:
8 wallets - $10 [Same pose]
24 wallets - $25 [Same pose]
4x6 - $4
5x7 - $6
8x10 - $8
11x14 - $25
I just need to know the file name of the photos and the sizes at which you want them, and the rest is my job. A shipping fee will be added, based on the size of the order.

How much do you charge for photo shoots?
Portrait photo shoots start at $100. This includes between one and two hours of shooting, post processing, and my time and talents as your photographer. You will be given a CD of the best edited, high-resolution photos [a minimum of 50-75 images], as well as the legal rights to make reprints and enlargements of any and all photos. The details of each photo shoot will be discussed on an individual basis before the shoot takes place. Each person is different and their wishes and goals for the shoot vary. I want you to leave with photos that we are both proud of, and that is the most important part of our shoot. Time limits and a lot of rules are not what dictates a shoot for me. These are guidelines that can and will be tailored to you and your desires for the session. Please contact me with any and all questions or concerns.

Wedding photo shoots start at $1200. This includes an engagement/save the date session, coverage of the rehearsal and groom's dinner, and full day coverge of the wedding, spanning from getting ready for the day into the rehearsal. You will receive edited images on discs with authority to reprint and englarge. Contact me for more information!

*Note-prices and shoot details are subject to change. But once you book your shoot, your price is locked in.

**Ask about my 'frequent-flyer specials'! These are deals for people booking multiple sessions such as maternity & newborn photos, or 6 months & 1 year photos.

What do you photograph?
I think every event or time in life is deserving of photographs. Maternity, newborns, children, graduations, couples, engagements, weddings, retirements, anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, pets... I think they are all worthy and deserving of photographs. The sky is the limit; if it is important enough that you want to remember it for the years ahead, it is worth photographing! There will be situations that will require more time and energy to capture than one to two hours. If this is the case, the price will be determined on an individual basis. Please, contact me for more information or to get a quote for your event or shoot!

How do you edit the photos?
After a shoot, I process the photos and select the best. From there, I tweak them and correct any blemishes or other areas that need fixing. You will receive every image in color. I will often convert an image to black and white as well, and in the event I do, you will receive both the color and black and white copies. I take artistic liberty in editing too, meaning I do different effects such as a soft glow or a moody faded look if I feel the photo gives off that feel. If I made such alterations to a photo, you will receive the color copy as well as any edited copies I make. If you have a particular technique you love or even hate, please let me know! I want you to love your photos, so it helps if I know what you like and don't like.

Where do you hold your photo shoots?
I think this is best left up to you. It totally depends on the type of photos you want, as well as the weather conditions around us. I love to shoot outdoors, and that is ideal if it works for the shoot. If the weather is not cooperating, I can shoot either at your own home, or at mine. I want you to be comfortable in your surroundings because that makes for the best photos, so the location of the shoot is decided before the shoot via discussions between us. We will first talk about what type of shoot and photos you want, and then determine the best location to achieve that.

What do I have to do to book a shoot?
In order to book a shoot, $50 is needed as a deposit for portrait sessions, and 1/3 [$400] is required to secure a wedding. This secures your session; this also locks in your price. If the prices are raised in the time between when you booked your session and when we actually take the photos, you will not be charged the higher rate. Please contact me for more information or to book a shoot! The earlier you book your shoot, the more time we have to plan and brainstorm for great photos.

What do I need to know about my photo shoot?
Your session is meant to be fun. Whether we are out laying in the grass taking photos of a baby learning to crawl, or inside in the winter, taking engagement photos by the fireplace, each session should be enjoyable! First of all, I don't have limits on clothing changes. As long as they are made within the time limit, I am ok with clothing changes. Photos can give off a completely different vibe, just by altering the clothing or even just the colors. Second, I am a huge fan of props, especially for babies and kids. Favorite sports teams, military outfits and accessories, sports props, dance outfits, flowers, swimsuits... it all makes for wonderful and unique pictures! When in doubt, bring the props and we can decide during the shoot if we want to use them. We will discuss ideas for props as well as poses in our conversations prior to the photo shoot. Thirdly, you will be responsible for the rest of your fees at the end of our shoot.

How do I pay for my session?
Currently, I require cash as payment for the sessions. If it is a wedding or event requiring a larger fee, checks may be allowed on an individual basis.

How long after the shoot can I expect my photos to be ready?
This depends on the length and size of your shoot. If it is a one to two hour shoot, I usually expect a week to process and edit the photos. If it is a wedding or a larger/longer event, the photos will be ready in three weeks.
