Matt and I
bought our first home in October of last fall.
We began our search in mid July, looking at a couple houses over the next month.
We saw our house first over the weekend of August 25th, 2012 and put in an offer on Sunday, August 26th, 2012.
Our offer was accepted on Tuesday, August 28th, and our closing date was set for Tuesday, October 16th, 2012.
After officially signing the stack of paperwork and getting our house keys, the house was OURS!
Let the renovations begin!
I snapped photos of the whole process to reflect on later, and I think it'll make the best photo book of all our progress.
Here are the Before photos of our lovely first home:
A great sized kitchen. Entry from a 2 car garage into the kitchen.
Sliding patio door which goes out onto a little deck.
The previous owners decided to carpet the linoleum dining room floor. I'm not sure if it was because it was slippery for them, or if it was too cold, or just not very comfy for them.
Large living room with nice big window looking into the wooded backyard.
From left to right:
The front entry way with a hall closet.
The long hallway which leads to three bedrooms and a bathroom, as well as a door to the basement.
The bathroom. Long and skinny with a deep linen closet.
The first bedroom, which became my office.
The second bedroom which became the guest room.
A nice, deep guest room closet.
The master bedroom.
The huge walk-in closet in the master bedroom. Yessss!
The stairs leading to the basement.
The basement is largely unfinished, with tons of potential for finishing it off and adding living space later on.
There's also a bathroom down there with a working sink and toilet, and room for a shower or possibly a small tub.
One room downstairs is finished off, and this huge room became my craft room!
The house is 15 years old and had one set of owners before us: a retired couple. It was incredibly clean and well cared for, and a great blank canvas for us to make it our own.
Next up - phase one of house renovations, ripping up the carpet and getting ready to paint!
Umm, I love that walk in closet !!! :)
ReplyDelete@Megan - Isn't that amazing?!?!
