Earlier this month, I went to Duluth with my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law for her biggest skating competition of the year. The Northland Figure Skating Competition in Duluth, MN is a huge four day competition with hundreds of skaters from the midwest region, and even up into Canada.
I spent many years as a dancer growing up, so I'm no stranger to competitions, makeup, costumes, and the nerves and jitters that accompany performing in front of strangers and judges. These skating competitions though - they are intense. Each skater skates by themselves on the ice, so each number is a solo. Even though I was just watching, the butterflies in MY stomach were huge!
Ashley had a great competition and skated amazingly. She placed well in the middle of her competitors and went home with three new medals.
I learned some new things about makeup, pop culture, and technology from these two middle school girls. A win-win for everyone!
