Capture the Everyday Moments | Photography Tip

We usually remember to photograph the big moments in our lives.

Birthdays, graduations, weddings, holidays.

Our photo albums are filled with photos from big moments.

But what about the little moments? The everyday, seemingly mundane, normal moments?

This is one of my favorite photos of myself. I was in high school, and it was late spring. To a lot of high school students, late spring is AP test time. This photo is of one of my last minute study sessions before taking one of the AP tests I took in high school.

[I know it's hard to see. I took a photo of the pic using my ipad and let's just say the ipad camera leaves a little to be desired.
And for the record, I'm bending over, looking at the paper in my lap, and I have a ponytail with highlighted hair spilling over the top of my head. In case you were wondering where my head was.] photo-2
I didn't know my mom was taking this photo. It's really a pretty normal/boring photo but to me, this was high school.

Papers spread all around, an agenda book trying to keep the dates of tests and homework in check, notes and highlighted sentences trying to catch my attention...

This was what high school was about to me. [Along with a lot of other awesome fun stuff like Kixters, Matt, friends and road trips.]

If my parents had only photographed the big things in my life, I wouldn't have this treasured photo from my high school years.

The says goes that in life, the little things are the big things.

The same is true for photography. Often times, the normal / little / everyday things are often the things that hold the most meaning and tell the biggest part of the story of our lives.

I challenge you to not only photograph the big moments in your life, but the little ones too.
