I've been a bit melancholy lately.
I'm not sure why exactly, but I'd say
it might be a combination of the changing of the seasons, the weather
getting progressively colder and knowing that winter is coming. That,
and the fact it doesn't get light until mid to late morning and it
gets dark before dinner.
It's no secret I hate winter, and it
seems like everywhere I look lately, life is full of reminders of
warm places, of our life in Hawaii, and of a winter free of snow. A
winter where I could wear my TOMS and never get frostbite. It's like
fate is taunting me as Mother Nature slowly blows in.
I am trying my hardest to embrace the
changing seasons and I really do 100% adore this time of year. I LOVE
Christmas and everything that goes along with this season. Despite
trying my hardest, I have caught myself feeling a little bit blue
lately.
This past weekend over Thanksgiving, my
family went to cut down a tree like we've done for the last few
years. Dressed in boots, my amazing winter jacket rated for way below
zero, and mittens, I found a little slice of sunshine, even if it was
only metaphorically. Time with family, and big belly laughs
brightened my spirits and reminded me that yes, winter is coming but
this too shall pass.
