Summer

Hello everyone, I'm still alive!

I know I haven't been posting much besides a few posts with recent sessions these last few weeks; can I just say that I can't believe it's the 21st of JULY already? And really, it's almost 10pm, so it's pretty much July 22nd!?! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?? It's been such a busy summer so far, time has just flown by!

I see back to school ads coming out, and people talking about fall. My mom tells me to be grateful for each and every season and I know I have to be. But seriously, I am NOT READY to even consider fall and winter yet. I still feel like June just started!

These last few weeks have been a big mix of sessions, editing, family, and massive sweating due to the humid heat wave we had last weekend/this week. I'll be honest, I loved it. I know, it was hot and kind of gross if you had to do anything like exercise or shoot outside. But aside from that, if you were at the beach, it felt AWESOME!

Matt's great-grandma passed away Monday after a short battle with cancer. Her funeral was today and so I've been in a contemplative mood all day, thankful for family time, dedicating myself to carving out time for those I love, and being thankful for all of the many blessings I've been given. If you wouldn't mind saying a prayer for the family of Kathleen, they're all grieving as they deal with her quick illness and passing. She was a great lady.

Matt and I have been doing a lot of talking about our dreams and goals lately; about thinking and planning for the future. He is plugging along in his classes, looking forward to being finished this winter. I have been outlining some goals for myself and my business, and making some steps toward achieving those goals. As my business grows and evolves, I continue to move toward where I want to be. I'm getting there! Major progress these last three days in the business end, with lots of time spent at the computer. I did read two books in the last week though, so it wasn't all work and no play.

It's back to the wedding game this weekend; I'll actually be photographing my cousin's wedding. The forecast is calling for strong storms and she's planned an outdoor wedding, so if you could say a few prayers for that too... I'm hoping the weatherman is mistaken. The next few weeks will also be full of portrait sessions, so I know it'll be a busy few weeks! Time WILL be carved out for the beach, bike rides, and hopefully some more berry picking as well. Summer is much too fleeting to spend all of it inside, at my computer.

What are you doing to soak in the summer? Favorite summer memory or experience so far?

  1. I agree it is already JULY 22!! Yikes. Where did the time go?

I said a bitty prayer for Matt's grieving family and your cousins wedding.

Glad to see the humidity and heat have not but a dent in your busyness!!

    TGIF!
