A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about my experiences as a Brainerd Kixter. I got a very sweet email from my old dance coach who is the mastermind behind Just For Kix, and at the end of the email, she told me that Brainerd would be hosting the Conference Championship competition for our area. I asked my mom if she wanted to go with me and she agreed. It's not as nerve wracking when you don't know anyone on the team - we were able to watch the whole show without pacing at all!
There were 9 teams that competed in both the kick and jazz categories. I just plain love to watch teams dance, so I loved every minute of the competition. I snapped a couple photos of each team, but I managed to miss one of the teams doing their jazz routine.
The teams doing their kick routines:

These are the jazz routines of each of the 9 teams [minus Fergus Falls, which I watched too intently to remember to snap a photo.]

Then, it was awards time, after the judges tabulated their results.
I'd make the worst dance judge. Each time a team goes, I think 'Oh, that was awesome! I like this, or that part.' Then, as others dance, I forget what the previous one was like. I was hoping for my alma mater to win, but I had no idea who would really win.

I was so happy for the team - they are really wonderful this year. I wish them all the best in the Section meet coming up and then, if they place well enough to advance to State, high kicks and bright smiles at State!
Great photos. That would have been so much fun to watch - and participate in. Oh, if I could go back in time...
