Fall Is Coming

Is it fall yet?

This summer has been so amazing, weird and uncharted in many ways, for me. My photography business has grown beyond my wildest dreams, and I am so unbelievably thankful for that. I cannot wait to see what the next year has in store - it's almost like I can't picture it getting any better, yet I know it is going to. What a neat feeling.

Photography, coupled with working 32 hrs a week at the resort has left little time for normal summer things. Things like the beach, boating, camping... all of that has gone on the back burner this summer. The sacrifices necessary to nurture a baby business into first year maturity.

I have managed to read almost 10 Fern Michaels' books this summer, which has been a great escape from the computer and work. I have gone to a few movies and I did hit the beach a time or two. I've fit in 2 or 3 bonfires, and as many s'mores. Mmmmm, I think I need to fit a few more of those in this summer. With my sister's wedding last weekend, I was able to see some family that I hadn't seen for ages. I love that.

It has been a blessed summer - that much is certain. I will say though, that I am ready for fall. I am ready for things to slow down, for the resort season to end and the winter break to come. I'm ready to eat dinner with Matt at night, and not just on the run. I'm ready for the heat and humidity to subside, and to start on the list of 'winter To-Do' projects that I have swirling around in my mind.

I think that the temperatures are going to dip into the pre-fall range this weekend, which maybe is foreshadowing the season that's fast approaching. I have three weddings lined up this fall, so it's going to be a beautiful season.

And as much as the whirlwind of summer gets exhausting, I know just as certain that in the middle of winter, say February, I'm going to be twiddling my thumbs, thinking 'I should be DOING something!' Such is the life of someone with a mostly seasonal job. Remind me I said that if I'm proclaiming boredom in the winter, ok?

I have been thinking about trying to write up some basic editing tutorials, primarily using Lightroom, my FAVORITE program EVER. I want to know: what is it that you want to know. What do you not fully understand about Lightroom, or editing in general that you want to know? I am not a know-all expert. I learn new things about Lightroom and photo editing daily. But I do have a few things that I've discovered this summer that might help others who are trying to navigate the world of Lightroom. If you have a suggestion or a question, either leave it in the comment section here, or email me at lauraradniecki@hotmail.com. Let's talk!

Now, it's dinner time with a family shoot in an hour. I apologize for the lack of photos in this post, but honestly - after ALL the photos I've posted this summer, a few words work nicely to balance it out, no??

xo,
Laura
