I feel so completely honored to be married to a vet, to have had the opportunity to live on a Marine base and get to know so many amazing men and their wives too, and to have been able to witness two deployment homecomings.
Those homecomings were two of the best days of my life. My wedding is the other best day.
Today, we also remember those who gave everything so that we have the freedom and security that we have and often take for granted. I think that it's their families who need the most thanks and prayers though; the men and women who died serving their country died in the ultimate sacrifice; knowing they were fighting for something good and noble. They deserve so much honor and thanks.
But. Their families are those how carry that void and are left to mourn until they are one day reunited. Their families are the ones that have to carry on in a world where people protest military funerals, burn flags, and have a total disregard for everything their husbands [or wives] stood for. I think that would be one of the hardest parts - feeling like there are people who take your husband's sacrifice for granted.
In my heart and in my mind forever - those service members who gave everything.
All gave some - Some gave all.
God bless America. I feel blessed to call it my home.
